bitBiome, Inc. has received a grant from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) for “Promotion of Technology Startups that Innovatively Respond to Economic Changes to Yield Social Benefits (TRY)” (maximum grant amount: 100 million yen) for fiscal year 2021.
NEDO has obtained signs of market changes arising from the shift in social structure, and NEDO had invited applications for this project TRY as a grant program for R&D-oriented startups that have seized this opportunity as a great chance and are moving forward with the aim of transforming their business with a large social impact.
Through this grant program, bitBiome will mine genes that are useful for medicine and industry from our microbial single-cell genome database and build a platform to connect them with thematerial production utilizing synthetic biology, robotics, and AI technologies. Our genome analysis technology, which enables us to obtain microbial genomes with high accuracy and efficiency even from samples that are difficult to obtain by conventional metagenome analysis, is expected to lead to the discovery of completely new useful genes that have never been found before.
